The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has issued a call for information following the discovery of three lifeless boa constrictors near Carbeth Loch in Blanefield, Glasgow. The snakes were uncovered by a passerby at a location known for illegal dumping. According to SPCA inspector Mairi Wright, the boa constrictors were found close together near bags of trash.
Normally found in South America and the Caribbean, boa constrictors kill their prey by suffocation. Although they are kept as pets in some countries, the cause of death for these reptiles remains unknown. Inspector Wright expressed concern over the circumstances of the discovery and called for anyone with information to come forward.
“We are eager to uncover the events that led to these snakes being found in this manner,” Wright said. “If anyone has any knowledge or recognizes these snakes, please contact our confidential animal helpline at 03000 999 999.”
The snakes were located near one of the entrances to Carbeth Huts, adjacent to the loch.
