Welwyn Hatfield Council has expressed their disappointment and concern after hundreds of old tyres were discovered fly-tipped along a major road in the county. The council has described the scene as a “shocking sight,” and is urging the public to report any suspicious activity or vehicles seen in the area to help prevent future incidents of fly-tipping.
The incident, which is believed to have involved around 500 tyres, occurred along the A414 from Holwell Court roundabout to the rear entrance to Hatfield Park. The council has assured the public that crews will be out next week to safely remove the tyres, but warn that the process may cause some inconvenience to motorists as it may require a lane closure.
The council’s statement on social media reads: “We were very saddened to see around 500 tyres fly-tipped along the A414 from Holwell Court roundabout to the rear entrance to Hatfield Park. It’s a shocking sight. Crews will be out next week removing tyres where they can do so safely. Please report any suspicious activity or vehicles to us, so that we can work together to prevent this kind of incident from happening again.”
Fly-tipping is a serious problem that affects many communities, and often poses significant health and environmental risks. The council is urging the public to help prevent this type of illegal activity by reporting any suspicious behaviour or waste dumping to the relevant authorities. The safe disposal of waste is important for the well-being of both the community and the environment, and it is the responsibility of everyone to help combat fly-tipping.
