In Sheerness, England, a heart-wrenching discovery was made in Cromwell Road as a shoebox containing the remains of five puppies was fly-tipped. Alongside the deceased dogs was a handwritten note that read “We love Lily + her puppies.” The stray dog service of Swale council is now appealing for any information about the doodle found in the shoebox and is asking anyone who recognizes it to come forward.
The breed of the puppies is unknown, but it appears that they were only a few days old at the time of their passing. The stray dog service believes that the puppies were once well-cared for but condemns the manner in which they were disposed of as “inexcusable.” The note suggests a sentimental attachment to the puppies, yet the method of disposal is considered a violation of the law.
The stray dog service emphasized that if one decides to breed their dog, they are responsible for their care and should make provisions for all eventualities, including death. If you have any information regarding this case, please contact Swale council at 01795 417850 or email the warden at melissaherbert@swale.gov.uk.
