Good Afternoon, I am looking for recommendations for house clearance companies who specialise in clearing cluttered and hoarded houses.
I am 43 years old and have been a hoarder for most of my adult life, I have lived in the same three bedroom bungalow in Brent since I was 24.
Over the years I have filled my home full of clutter and junk, I realised I had a hoarding problem when I could no longer move around my home without burying myself in junk.
About a year ago, I went to see a professional to help with my hoarding problem, at first I learned how to let go of literal rubbish, then I learned how to let go of things I have bought by donating them to charity, I am now able to let go of everything so that I can have a fresh start in my home.
I would appreciate it if a lot of my belongings could be donated to charity so that someone else can gain from them, it really helps me when I see my belongings going to good use.
I have had no friends or family to support me over these difficult years, if I don’t have my home cleared now, I never will.
I plan to book a clearance for the end of the month, this will give me time to remove my clothing and sentimental belongings, I think it will take more than a week to clear my home, so I plan to stay in a hotel whilst the clearance is being undertaken.
I don’t want to be present for the day of the clearance as it is still a bit difficult for me, I will meet the team at my home with the keys, and they can give them back to me when they are done.
I will have removed mostly everything by the time the clearance comes around, I can’t access my bedrooms though, will the house clearance specialists be able to locate my jewellery for me and keep it to one side? Has anyone done this before?
My bungalow consists of three bedrooms, a lounge, a dining room, an office, a kitchen, a sun room and a bathroom.
The lounge is where I have lived for a few years since I could no longer access my bedrooms, I have piled mountains of items in lounge containing bags full of things I have purchased over the years, within the mountains of clutter I have created a walkway for me to move around.
The hallways are extremely cluttered with stacks of junk almost reaching the ceiling, the bathroom does not need to be cleared.
The three bedrooms can’t be cleared until the hallway has been cleared, you can’t get into the doors, each bedroom is completely full to the brim.
The kitchen isn’t as cluttered as the rest of my home, there is the basic amount of appliances that can all remain, the only items to be removed from the kitchen is all the clutter covering the floor, there are boxes of bric-a-brac, ornaments, crockery etc stacked up in one corner, this can all be cleared.
The dining room has sliding doors from the living room, it has a large dining table and four chairs, a large sideboard and a corner cabinet, covering the floor completely is boxes upon boxes of bric-a-brac containing things I have purchased over the years and shoved into boxes.
My home office was used many years ago until I filled it full of junk, there is a desk, a computer and a storage trunk, I briefly remember filling it full of bags of new clothing, books etc.
The sun room is basic, it has windows that can be seen through by neighbours, I haven’t filled it anywhere near as much as the rest of my home, the only thing to go from the sun room Is a nest of tables and three boxes of bric-a-brac.
I want all carpets removed from my home too, and a clean carried out afterwards.
I would really appreciate it if most of it could be donated as most of the clutter is brand-new, items I have purchased over the years, I am also weary of where the rubbish will go, I would need to see the correct licenses and certificates for waste carrying.
My home is in Brent – London.
Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated.
Many thanks, Karen.
