Last year I visited an auction house and bought a property cheap spur of the moment, I hadn’t visited the property, I was just given a description of the size and location, the house had been seized from the previous owners as they could not keep on top of their mortgage payments.
Once I paid and received the keys I went to visit it, only to realise that the previous owners had been living as hoarders, the house is absolutely full to the brim.
The house is a huge five bedroom detached with a double garage located in Barnet.
Once I have had the house cleared, I plan to turn it into three flats.
I am looking for a house clearance company who specialise in clearing hoarded and cluttered properties in the Barnet area.
The house consists of five bedrooms, two lounges, an office, two kitchens, a dining room, three huge storage cupboards, a basement, three bathrooms, a large conservatory and two large pantries.
The huge hallway has a large school cupboard filled with coats, clothing, shoes etc, two large sideboards, a large amount of boxes containing ornaments, bric-a-brac etc, a vacuum cleaner and a trunk.
The main lounge has a three-piece sofa suite, two huge sideboards, a nest of tables, a desk, a desk chair and a television and stand, surrounding the furniture is huge piles of magazines and boxes of junk, these are stacked to waist height.
The second lounge has been used as a storage room, the room is huge with only a small space where you can see carpet, there are boxes upon boxes of clutter and junk, I have only looked in about ten of the boxes, they are so far full of ornaments, paper work, books etc.
A huge amount of the stuff could be donated to charity as it consists of mainly books, ornaments, clothing etc, the clutter is quite organised.
The office is small but is crammed, there is a desk and a chair, a computer, a huge blanket box filled with coats and bedding, there is a rail on the wall with a lot of coats hanging up, a filing cabinet filled with paperwork and a shoe rack full of shoes.
Both kitchens are huge, they are filled with plastic boxes full of crockery, cups, pans and tinned food, each have a fridge freezer, bar stools etc, the cupboards are full to the brim with food, cutlery and crockery, one of the kitchens has a dishwasher, a washing machine and a tumble dryer, all of these are to be cleared.
The dining room is huge, it has a large twelve seated dining table and twelve chairs, on top of the dining table is piles of plates, crockery, pans etc, underneath the dining table is boxes of paintings and toys, surrounding the dining table Is about 100 boxes of junk and about 20 bags of paperwork, there is also two large sideboards and three huge wall mirrors.
The pantries are filled with loose items including food, appliances, crockery etc.
The basement has a narrow staircase leading down to it, there is empty cardboard boxes stacked in one corner and other items that you would usually find in a loft such as Christmas decorations, tools and boxes of photographs.
The storage cupboards are filled with tools, boxes of alcohol, coats, coat hangers, vacuum cleaners etc.
All the bedrooms are extremely cluttered, there is no floor space visible, I believe the previous owners filled these rooms first as they are the worst, I can see some items of furniture in some rooms, including wardrobes, beds etc, it also looks like each bedroom has storage cupboards, these can’t be accessed due to the mountains of clutter blocking the doors.
The conservatory has a three-piece wicker sofa suite, two standard lamps, a nest of tables, a coffee table and about 20 boxes of books and ornaments.
All three bathrooms are standard with just shampoo bottles and toilet roll etc to be removed.
In the garage there is three old cars which I want removed, there is a few sets of ladders, pine trunks filled with tools, and some old doors.
I believe it could take about two weeks to completely clear the whole house and garage, a huge amount of the stuff could be donated to charity in the process, there could also be some valuables hidden amongst the clutter, would a house clearance company keep any valuables to one side for me?
I planned to carry out the clearance myself but after removing just one van load of rubbish from the hallway I realised it was far too big a job for me to do.
Once the house has been cleared I plan to rip out the kitchens and bathrooms, would a house clearance company come back on a separate day to remove the kitchens and bathrooms once they have been dismantled, has anyone had this done before?
Any info would be much appreciated.
Thank you, Mark.
